will-future – Das Futur mit will
(A) Einführung: Was ist das will-future?
Lies dir diese Sätze durch:
(1) I think it will rain tomorrow.
(2) Sam will be 13 next week.
(3) The phone is ringing. – I’ll get it!
(4) Don’t worry, Mum. I won’t forget my homework.
will-future = will + Grundform des Verbs [infinitive ohne to]
Die Form ist bei allen Personen gleich: I will, you will, she will, we will, they will …
| Langform | Kurzform |
|---|---|
| I will play | I’ll play |
| you will play | you’ll play |
| he / she / it will play | he’ll / she’ll / it’ll play |
| we will play | we’ll play |
| you will play | you’ll play |
| they will play | they’ll play |
Verneinte Sätze [negative statements]
Die Verneinung von will ist will not. Die Kurzform heißt won’t.
(5) Ryan won’t come to the party. He’s ill.
(6) Don’t worry, it won’t take long.
(7) We will not be late, I promise.
Fragen [questions]
Bei Fragen steht will vor dem Subjekt. Ein Fragewort (what, where, when …) steht ganz am Anfang.
(8) Will Emma like the present?
(9) What will you do after school?
(10) Where will we meet tomorrow?
Kurzantworten [short answers]
| Frage | Kurzantwort: ja | Kurzantwort: nein |
|---|---|---|

| Will Tom be there? | Yes, he will. | No, he won’t. |
| Will they win? | Yes, they will. | No, they won’t. |
Yes, I’ll. → Yes, I will.
(C) Verwendung: Wann benutzt du das will-future?

(12) I’m sure you’ll like the film.

Englisches will ist nicht deutsches „will“
Das ist der häufigste Fehler! Englisches will bedeutet „werden“, nicht „wollen“.
| Englisch | Deutsch |
|---|---|
| I will go. | „Ich werde gehen.“ |
| I want to go. | „Ich will gehen.“ |
I will a new bike. → I want a new bike. [Ich will ein neues Fahrrad.]
Kein -s, kein to
Nach will steht immer die Grundform des Verbs – ohne -s und ohne to.
She wills come. → She will come.
He will plays football. → He will play football.
We will to visit you. → We will visit you.
Die Verneinung heißt won’t
I willn’t do it. → I won’t do it.
| will-future | going to-future |
|---|---|
| spontane Entscheidung (gerade eben entschieden) | Plan oder Absicht (schon vorher entschieden) |
| Vermutung oder Meinung (I think …)
(23) Ruby: “Oh, the dog wants to go out. I’ll take him for a walk.” → spontan
(24) Ryan: “I’m going to visit my grandma on Saturday.” → Plan steht schon fest
(25) I think it’ll be sunny tomorrow. → Vermutung
(26) Look at those black clouds! It’s going to rain. → Man sieht ein Anzeichen.
Kein will nach if
In einem Bedingungssatz mit if steht kein will.
If it will rain, we’ll stay at home. → If it rains, we’ll stay at home.
