German adverb, English verb
English often uses verbs where the German language prefers an adjective. Here are some examples.
Note that the English verbs can occur (vorkommen) in other contexts and with other meanings as well.

anscheinend | to seem | Es ist anscheinend kalt. | It seems to be cold. |
dauernd | to keep on | Er hat dauernd Fisch gekauft. | He kept on buying fish. |
früher, immer | used to | Früher gingen wir schwimmen. | We used to go swimming. |
gerne | to like | Ich hätte gerne eine Katze. | I would like to have a cat. |
lieber | to prefer | Sie hätte lieber einen Hund. | She prefers a dog. |
wahrscheinlich | to be likely | Wahrscheinlich regnet es heute. | It's likely to rain today. |
weiterhin | to continue | Sie haben weiterhin Autos gebaut. | They continued to build cars. |
zufällig | to happen | Ich war zufällig zu Hause. | I happened to be at home. |
leider | to be afraid | Ich kann leider nicht kommen. | I'm afraid I can't come. |
ob … wohl? | to wonder | Ob er wohl kommen wird? | I wonder whether he’ll come or not. |
