Interview with Max

Names of interviewers: Simon, Katharina, Emma

===== Where the subjects you had in america different?

Max: Yes, they were very different, because the Americans could choose their subjects in grade 5. For example if they only want Arts, Musik and stuff like that. If they don't choose Sports they don't have sports for the next seven years. The subjects are very specific.

What was the most unusual things you experienced?

Max: The chior was very awesome and unusual because they sang very well.

Did you do any american sports there?

Max: I played sports there but nothing typically american.

Did you miss anything from Germany while you were there and why?

Max: I missed the food because the food there was very greasy. We ate a lot of pizza and the mother of my exchange student only cooked from time to time.

Was it hard to understand the lessons in America?

Max: No, but most of the german exchange students slept during class. It was easy to understand them but to actually talk was another point.

When you came back to Germany did you miss anything from America?

Max: No, I don't think so. Well I miss the mentality of the people there.

How did the exchange work and do you think it was a good experience?

Max: The exchange was good and it was a nice expereience but my exchange student had a different personality. He didn't do any sports like I did so it was a bit difficult, but it still was nice.

Where did you meet your match for the first time and what did you do?

Max: I met him at the airport for the first time. They stood in a line and sang a song. After that my exchange student drove me home since he already has a driver's license. We visited a pumpkin farm. There they shot with canons to crush the pumpkins. We were also at a halloween party.

Would you recommend going to America?

Max: Yes, because I liked the mentality of the students and the two weeks there were really short.

Was it a good experience to talk with native speakers? Did it help at learning the language?

Max: Yes, I learned some word constructions like „I guess…“, but my language isn't the best. It was nice to talk to them and I understood everything but my speaking hasn't changed a lot.

Thank you for the interview.
